Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Casablanca to Rabat

image
Your Grand Morocco Loop begins at Casablanca’s CMN airport. After a warm greeting, we’ll visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, a marvel of modern Moroccan craftsmanship. We then follow the coastline to the capital city, Rabat. Take a sunset stroll through the Oudaya Kasbah, a peaceful fortress with white-and-blue walls overlooking the Atlantic. It’s a gentle introduction to the country’s history before we head further north tomorrow.

Day 2: The Road to the Blue Pearl

image
We depart Rabat for the Rif Mountains, where the "Blue Pearl" of Chefchaouen awaits. As the rugged peaks come into view, you’ll notice the shift in architecture and atmosphere. After checking into your riad, spend your evening exploring the blue-washed streets of Chefchaouen. The town is remarkably calm, making it the perfect place to enjoy a rooftop dinner while the calls to prayer echo across the valley.

Day 3: Nature and Blue Alleys

image
Today is for soaking in the mountain air. We’ll take a light hike to the nearby Akchour waterfalls or the Spanish Mosque for panoramic views. Back in town, the afternoon is yours to wander. Whether you are searching for hand-woven wool blankets or the perfect photograph, the city’s indigo alleys never cease to inspire. It’s a day of slow travel, designed to help you adjust to the Moroccan rhythm.

Day 4: Roman Ruins and Imperial Gates

image
We head south toward Fes, stopping first at the Roman ruins of Volubilis. You will wander the ancient Roman ruins and see remarkably preserved mosaics. Nearby, we visit the holy town of Moulay Idriss and the imperial city of Meknes to see the massive Bab Mansour gate. By evening, we arrive in Fes, the spiritual heart of Morocco, where a hidden riad in the medina provides your sanctuary for the next three nights.

Day 5: The Heart of Fes

image
A local expert will lead you through the 9,000 winding streets of the Fes Medina, where every corner reveals a new piece of living history. You’ll witness the ancient art of leather tanning at the famous Chouara Tannery and visit the Al-Qarawiyyin University, the oldest continually operating educational institution in the world. As you navigate the specialized souks, your guide will introduce you to master craftsmen who still use techniques passed down through generations. This deep dive into the spiritual heart of the city offers a profound look at the artistic and architectural heritage that makes Fes a global treasure.

Day 6: Wellness and Relaxation

image
After the sensory intensity of the medina, today is dedicated to total relaxation. We return to the spa for a deeper wellness session, including an argan oil massage. Use the rest of your day to revisit a favorite souk or enjoy tea on a rooftop terrace. This pause in the itinerary ensures you aren’t "toured out" before we reach the spectacular landscapes of the southern Sahara.

Day 7: Sahara Bound

image
We leave Fes for a long but beautiful drive over the Middle Atlas. We’ll pass through the cedar forests of Azrou, home to wild Barbary macaques. As the landscape flattens into the Ziz Valley, the first dunes appear. In Merzouga, you’ll mount your camel for a trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. You’ll spend the night at a luxury desert camp, enjoying a traditional feast under a sky filled with millions of stars.

Day 8: Canyons and Gorges

image
Wake up for a Saharan sunrise before we head toward the Dades Valley. We’ll stop in Rissani to see the traditional livestock market and continue to the Todra Gorge. Here, massive limestone cliffs tower 300 meters above the riverbed. We’ll walk through the lush palms of the Tinghir oasis before reaching Boumalne Dades. The "fingers of the mountains" rock formations provide a dramatic backdrop for your evening in this high-altitude valley.

Day 9: The Fortress of Ait Ben Haddou

image
We follow the "Road of a Thousand Kasbahs" toward Ouarzazate. Our main stop is Ait Ben Haddou, the most famous ksar in Morocco and a frequent filming location for Hollywood epics. You’ll have the chance to wander the ancient earthen fortress and learn about the old salt caravans. We stay in Ouarzazate tonight, the "Door of the Desert," allowing you to visit the Atlas Film Studios if you wish to see where Gladiator was filmed.

Day 10: Across the High Atlas to Marrakech

image
Today’s drive is one of the most famous in Africa. We cross the Tizi n'Tichka pass, reaching an altitude of 2,260 meters. The road winds past Berber villages perched on red cliffs. You will experience authentic Berber hospitality in the Atlas Mountains during our stops for tea. By late afternoon, we descend into the vibrant "Red City" of Marrakech, settling into a riad near the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square.

Day 11: The Magic of Marrakech

image
Our final guided tour takes you through the Bahia Palace and the Saadian Tombs. Your guide will help you navigate the bustling souks, where you can find everything from spices to high-end leather. In the evening, the main square transforms into a massive open-air kitchen. It’s a sensory feast that marks the perfect finale to your journey through the imperial heart of the Kingdom.

Day 12: Return to Casablanca

image
After a final morning in the Red City, we begin our drive back to Casablanca. We cross the Haouz plains, watching the landscape shift from the ochre earth of the south back to the verdant coastal regions. We arrive in the economic capital in the late afternoon. This final evening is perfect for a celebratory dinner at the Rick's Café or a quiet night reflecting on your comprehensive cross-country Moroccan itinerary.

Day 13: Farewell from Casablanca

image
After a final breakfast, we’ll provide a private transfer to the airport. Your Grand Morocco Loop concludes here. We handle every detail of the logistics from start to finish, so you leave with nothing but memories of blue walls, golden sands, and the warmth of Moroccan hospitality. We know that once you’ve experienced the magic of the "Hive," you’ll already be dreaming of your next return.

"We wanted a deep, comprehensive dive into the country but with a high level of comfort, and that’s exactly what we got. Our private driver, Abdel, was a complete champion—his driving across the winding High Atlas mountains was exceptionally safe and professional, and he knew all the secret panoramic pull-overs away from the crowd. The desert camp felt like a 5-star hotel under canvas, complete with a proper hot shower and a massive plush bed. Waking up to the absolute silence of the Sahara was spiritual"
